Most of the comments I receive from random men are pretty awful. They use words and phrases I wouldn’t even bother repeating, some of them downright racist, sexist, or violent. So when I come across one that genuinely makes me laugh, it’s refreshing. Although I didn’t intend to take this comment to heart, and I’m not sure what the intention behind it even was, something about it really hit home. I should spend more time being weird. I should embrace nature and being a weird, saucy tart. Whether or not it was a comment made in jest or made with malice, I feel like I’m transitioning into my ‘Saucy Tart Era’.

I started this year with the mindset of trying to make more friends. After a few moves, a new town, a few friends who transformed into ghosts, mixed seamlessly with an introverted, childfree woman, who works from home, I realized I really needed to get out of the house more often. A hard discovery to make as I’ve never been ‘a joiner’. I love being at home, I love my own company, I love spending an afternoon reading a book by myself. 99% of the time I truly don’t need more company than the cat. But science says otherwise and thus I decided it was time to make some friends.
