April is a month of transition in nature. I watched the temperature rise and fall and rise again. Early crocus blooms dappled the garden, soon after being joined by the tulips and daffodils. Mid-April brought the blooming of the bleeding hearts and the beginning of buds on so many neighbourhood trees. The earth is waking up, with hesitant groans, but waking up nonetheless. The sun is finally sharing warmth alongside its ever lengthening rays and the winter depression is lifting. Life feels hopeful again.
